What Is Required To Complete This Course?

We know many of you will be excited to know more about this programme and what is required of you, so here is the breakdown of the requirements to successfully complete the course.

Completion of an Additional 50 Hours of Study

Where possible the written assignments and reflections will be built in to the self study element of the programme. The required teaching and self study hours for the Association for Coaching’s accreditation of this programme is 150 hours. However, as you have completed our Transformational Coaching Diploma already, this extension programme provides the additional 50 hours over the course of 6-9 months. (This does not include your required coaching hours).

Included In The Additional 50 Hours Are:

Six Online Modules

In line with your diploma, we operate a flipped classroom approach to learning. You will have access to our online learning platform to study the topic for each module in advance of your live workshops.

Within these modules we will also provide guidance and actions related to the assessed elements of this course detailed below.

Six Live Workshops Via Zoom

Our live workshops are 9.30am until 1.30pm according to the advertised schedule. You will notice that these are held between 3 and 5 weeks apart, giving you plenty of time to complete the online study, practice coaching and other self-study activities that are required.

In the workshops you will have the chance to discuss the topic module and have your questions answered. There will also be the opportunity to practice new ways of being in the coaching room and receive feedback from your peers and tutors.

Completion of Learning Log

As you had been doing previously, your learning in the workshops and on the learning platform will need to be logged and your learning log submitted for review at the end of the programme.

Attendance of Three of the Four Scheduled Online Group Supervision Sessions

It is a requirement of the course that we provide you with a minimum of three supervision sessions. We have planned four, as per the schedule, which will run from 9.30am until 11.30pm. You are, of course, welcome to attend all four.

During these sessions you will have the opportunity to raise any questions, concerns or observations about your coaching practice, as well as to discuss ethical issues that may arise. We will also review contracting and boundaries.

We will ask you to keep a supervision diary which will feed into a supervision report that is required for your individual accreditation.

Coaching Recording

As before, we will require you to submit a recording of a genuine coaching session that you have facilitated. This will be 40 minutes. We will review this and provide feedback as we have for your initial diploma. This will help to inform your fitness to practice assignment.

Written Assignments

Two additional written assignments each of 1000 words are required to finalise your advanced qualification and support your individual accreditation application. Full guidance will be provided during the programme.

  • ‘Your Personal Coaching Approach’: 1000 word written assignment
  • ‘Your Case Study’: 1000 words detailing a course of three coaching sessions with one practice client.
  • ‘Your Fitness To Practice’: A 1000 word critical reflection on your coaching practice.

Where possible the written assignments and reflections will be built in to the self study element of the programme

Completion of Coaching Hours and Coaching Log

You will be required to have 50 hours of coaching practice logged in order to complete the qualification and submit your application for accreditation to the AC. All hours logged since you started your original Transformational Coaching Diploma training will be accepted, so you will already have at least 20 hours. In addition to this, any coaching practice carried out on the programme in the live workshops will also qualify, for this advanced diploma, to be added to your coaching log.

Coaching hours may be paid or pro bono, personal or work-related (executive). Internal coaching can be included in your logged hours as long as it is part of a formal coaching arrangement rather than as a line manager. Some group coaching is also permissible subject to certain conditions. You will be provided with further support and guidance around this during the programme.

Completion of an Individual Accreditation Application

As part of this Advanced Diploma, we will be assessing the elements mentioned above. The final part of the application for individual accreditation is a simplified form that you will need to complete and submit to the Association For Coaching along with their application fee (this is a discounted rate compared to the regular accreditation assessment fee and is currently £135 for members).

A Bit About Each Module
Module 1
Personality In The Coaching Room

We all tend to see the world the way we see it and assume that everyone else views things the way we do. The reality is that the way we navigate the world, make behavioural change, and strive for our goals, is different for everyone.  The field of personality psychology is rich with theories about individual differences and universal commonalities.

In this module we explore the world of personality traits and types and how that might inform our coaching to make it more effective and transformative.

Module 2
Motivation In The Coaching Room

When it comes to any type of change or movement towards a desired outcome, motivation is going to be an important factor at the beginning of the journey. However, it is also going to be equally important for a coachee to maintain some degree of motivation as they continue on their journey and encounter obstacles.

In this module we explore how we can help our coachees to find the key that will unlock the motivation they require to start and maintain their journey or transformation.

Module 3
Identity In The Coaching Room

Transformational Coaching is very much about making changes to allow us to be who we want to be, In Gestalt Coaching we learned that change doesn’t happen when we are trying to be something we’re not. Acceptance of who we are is the first step in the journey to becoming who we want to be and in designing a life that we want to see for ourselves.

In this module we will explore the concept of identity from different perspectives and will offer ways of engaging coachees in exploring their own identity.

Module 4
Trauma Awareness In Coaching

Trauma doesn’t always, or even very often, emerge in coaching sessions, but being knowledgeable about trauma as a coach is important. Being trauma-aware within your coaching practice will help you to create a safe and nurturing environment, where clients can thrive and achieve their goals. This awareness will also help you to recognise when coaching is not the most appropriate intervention.

In this module we explore trauma awareness in coaching, and offer practical tips for integrating this knowledge into your practice.

Module 5
Emotions Coaching

Emotions are going to be an integral part of any transformational change and they, therefore, have a rightful place in the coaching room.

Being comfortable with coaching emotions is important in all forms of coaching, but often coaches gloss over any talk of emotions due to an uncertainty and discomfort around working with them

In this module we will be exploring how we can support coachees to make sense of their emotions and develop their emotional intelligence

Module 6
Group Coaching

Group coaching can be more time efficient for you as a coach, and make coaching more financially available to individuals. It can also provide additional support and connection by bringing together similarly minded individuals who can also learn from each other. But for you as a coach it is different to 1:1 work.

In this module we explore this new dynamic, including the key differences between 1:1 and group coaching, the different approaches you can take, as well as what not to do in group coaching.
